The World Cup Final Draw held in Cape Town, South Africa, was a star studded event. The 32 teams have learnt their groups and can now start chalking out their plans to win the most coveted footballing trophy.
The opening speech was made by the charismatic former South African President- Nelson Mandela, through a video message. He said:
“We must strive for excellence in our hosting of the World Cup, while at the same time ensuring the event leaves a lasting benefit to all our people”
South African actress- Charlize Theron presented the show and started off by unveiling the official 2010 Match Ball, adidas’ Jabulani, a name meaningĀ ’to celebrate’ in Zulu. The event also included African sporting stars such as athlete Haile Gebreselassie, rugby player John Smit, cricketer Makhaya Ntini, and footballers Matthew Booth and Simphiwe Dludlu assisting with the draw, along with England’s David Beckham.
The glitz and glamourous event was keenly watched by approximately 200 million Television viewers and the Draw Hall was filled with around 2000 invitees.
The World Cup 2010 fever is rising and everyone around the world just can’t wait to see the mouth-watering clashes set to be held in June next year.
People are predicting Group D: Brazil, Korea DPR, Cote d’Ivorie and Portugal to be the ‘group of death’, but Brazil Coach Dunga thinks otherwise.
