A controversial free-kick led to a winner for Chelsea in tonight’s Premier League clash versus Manchester United.
United had dominated the game from the start, with one of their best performances of the season. Rooney had an outstanding game after returning back from paternal leave.
Man United will feel hard done by after the referee gave away a debatable free kick. Lampard took the kick which led to the lone goal, scored by Terry.
Edwin Van Der Sar came running out appealing against either the bringing down of Brown in the box(during the kick) or that Drogba was off-side, but it was to no avail.
The match was a hard fought encounter with Red Devils trying to make a comeback. Tempers were flaring and the referee showed around 3 yellow cards within minutes.
The Blues managed to hold United and maintain their position at the top of the table and now have a 5 point advantage over Arsenal(2nd) and Man U(3rd).
Sir Alex Ferguson commented-
“The referee’s position was absolutely ridiculous. It was a bad decision, but what can you do. We dominated the match and had good chances and should have finished it off.”
