The All India Football Federation (AIFF), the governing body of Football in India has announced a 15 year agreement with private partners IMG-RIL.

The I League commenced in 2007/08 replacing the National Football League in India. It has 14 teams participating this season and will be expanded to 16 from the next, the four new team featuring this season include Salgaocar SC, Viva Kerala, Pune FC and Shillong Lajong.
