According to news coming in from Spain, Argentinian Clubs have started a campaign to substitute Coach Diego Maradona with Barcelona’s Coach – Pep Guardiola.
Maradona has been under siege for jeopardizing Argentina’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Earlier, Ole – a Buenos Aires newspaper had reported that Maradona had threatened to drop European stars for the upcoming qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay. Players such as Gabriel Heinze, Fernando Gago, Javier Zanetti, Maximiliano Rodriguez, Lisandro Lopez and Diego Milito would’ve been replaced.

Even Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi positions were under threat. Messi has been struggling to find his feet with his national team, whereas he’s had no such problems with his current club Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola is seen as having a good rapport with Messi and thus will be able to mentor him even in the Argentine team. No other national coach has been able to bring out Messi’s potential talent. Although, Olympic coach Sergio Batista has had some luck with the 22 year old, but he’s termed as under-qualified for big stage.
