Republic of Ireland Coach- Giovanni Trapattoni has just concluded a press conference. He said he wants FIFA to change the two-legged play-off format to two 90-minute games, without extra time. Football must use this incident to make sure these things can’t happen in future by considering the use of video technology. He also wants FIFA to explain the choice of the referee and the criteria by which he was chosen to officiate “a big, important match”.
Although Trapattoni has stated that it would be impossible to have a re-match, the Irish FA have lodged an official complaint with FIFA.
In other news, the Swedish Press have apologized to the Irish fans after last night’s blunder by the referees, all three were Swedish.
